General Responsibilities

To keep the Visually Platform thriving and to keep all freelancers in compliance with our Code of Ethics, all certified freelancers must also follow our platform best practices.

  • Meet your deadlines. Deliver on time within projects. If you feel you might miss a deadline, notify the Visually support team.
  • Be responsive when clients try to contact you.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients and other freelancers, both directly and through Project Managers within the Platform. You will need a firm understanding of the English language and should be extra mindful in all communications to never  come across as not rude, sarcastic, curt, or otherwise inappropriate.)
  • Be consistent with the work represented in your portfolio. Work drastically lower in quality than your portfolio is suspect, and may trigger a re-evaluation of your certified status.
  • Do not discuss prices or solicit work with clients outside of the platform; this is stipulated in your contract with Visually.
  • Identify when a project is going out of scope, and escalate to the appropriate Visually personnel, either the Help desk or the assigned Project Manager. Doing additional work outside of the original scope without Visually approval means we can not pay you for the additional work; it also makes it difficult for our team to set scope expectations with clients,  especially if they are repeat customers.

Failure to follow these rules may result in one or more of the following: withheld payment, a lowered Visually rating, Visually account suspension, decertification, or termination.

Overall, you are accountable for the quality and creative output on your assigned project; our clients are trusting in your creative expertise and skill sets. This is the beauty of our platform:it connects the world’s best freelancers (like yourself) directly with the world’s best brands.

Designer

As a freelance Designer with Visually, depending on what type of project you’re assigned, you’ll be working directly with clients, as well as fellow freelancers, including writers/researchers, animators, developers and project managers.

As Designer, you are responsible for creating the visual language and design for our high-profile clients.

Within our platform, you’ll be working directly with clients and collaborating closely with them to realize their goals. To be successful, you’ll need to be a clear communicator, detail-oriented, pixel perfect in everything you do, and making sure you deliver on time and on budget.

Requirements/Skills:

  • Executing visual design that helps clients meet their objectives
  • Comfortable working with and interpreting specification documents (e.g., Creative Briefs, SOWs, etc.)
  • Experience with design in any (or several) of our main project areas: Infographics, Presentations, Social Media Graphics, Web design or ebooks; branding and other areas of focus are a plus
  • Strong experience working in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign or other relevant tools
  • Comfortable working within an online project management platform
  • Active interest in design (it’s not just your job, it’s your passion)
  • Focus on both a macro- and micro-level design details
  • Ability to give and take constructive feedback well
  • Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal. Comfortable joining conference calls with clients are a plus and is sometimes required

 

Creative Director

As a freelance Creative Director with Visually, you’ll be working directly with clients, as well as fellow freelancers, including writers/researchers, designers, animators, developers and/or project managers.

As Creative Director, you are responsible for developing high-level creative concepts for projects - often for enterprise- and retainer-level clients - and for ensuring seamless execution.  

Within our platform, you’ll be working directly with clients and collaborating closely with them to realize their goals. You will also be overseeing the creative process, pitching work, and guiding diverse creative teams. To be successful, you’ll need to be detail-oriented and a clear communicator. You will need to quickly understand a company's brand and translate their needs into a creative vision. And you’ll need to ensure pixel perfect work, and an on time/budget delivery. Creativity is a must, but equally critical are solid communication and managerial skills, especially as they relate to client service.

Requirements/Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience, with strong aptitude for both the creative and business sides of marketing and advertising
  • Extensive experience with design in any (or several) of our main project areas: Infographics, Presentations, Social Media Graphics, Web design or ebooks; branding and other areas of focus are a plus
  • Develop deep understanding of client profiles, backgrounds and needs to execute strong leadership in projects, including managing and mentoring other designers, and keeping creative on-brand and consistent
  • Client savvy and experience working with high-profile brands; ability to take lead on Client calls a must
  • Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Supervise a diverse team of other freelancers, such as content strategists and writers, through all phases of production and ability to provide constructive and actionable feedback, especially as it relates to design
  • Develop creative concepts that help translate business objectives (generating awareness and drive demand by delivering memorable brand impressions) into user goals
  • Interpret specification documents (Creative Briefs, SOWs) to ensure briefing materials are in line with scope
  • Strong knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and other relevant tools

Animator

As a freelance 2D/3D Animator or Motion Graphic Artist with Visually, depending on what type of project you’re assigned, you’ll be working directly with clients, as well as fellow freelancers, including writers/researchers, animators, developers and project managers.

As 2D/3D Animator or Motion Graphic Artist, you are responsible for creating animations and motion graphics for our high profile clients.

Within our platform, you’ll be working directly with clients and collaborating closely with them to realize their goals. To be successful, you’ll need to be a clear communicator, detail-oriented and creatively flexible. You possess the ability to design and prepare all assets, and create the motion that tells the project's story. You’ll need to straddle the lines between designer, animator and sometimes project manager to deliver your best work, on time and on budget.

Requirements/Skills:

  • Executing animation and motion graphic efforts within projects
  • Comfortable working with and interpreting specification documents (Creative Briefs, SOWs)
  • Familiar with Adobe’s Creative Suite, as well as any other animation or graphics software you rely on to get the job done, required
  • Comfortable working with vector objects within Adobe After Effects
  • Knowledge and/or experience with non-linear editing and related software
  • Comfortable booking and processing voice over for animated projects
  • Familiar with basic audio editing (e.g., you can add music, sound effects, and voice over to your work, or collaborate with a sound designer who can) and related software
  • Familiar with sourcing and acquiring the rights to use royalty-free music, sound effects, photos, graphics, and video clips should your project call for these assets
  • As 3D artist, familiar with software such as Maya, 3D Studio Max, Cinema 4D or Blender required

 

Copywriter

As a freelance Copywriter with Visually,  you’ll be working directly with clients and a team of Designers, Animators, Developers and/or Project Managers.

As Copywriter, you are responsible for communicating a client’s or product’s message in a way that is uniquely fresh, memorable, and persuasive.

Within our platform, you’ll be working directly with clients - collaborating closely with them to realize their goals. To be successful, you’ll need to be a clear communicator, detail-oriented, and versatile. You’ll need to write in a variety of voices and tones that match brand personalities, ruthlessly proofread your work, and deliver your work on time.  

We also encourage you to collaborate with your fellow freelancers on assigned on the project, which often makes for a better creative deliverable.

Writer/Researcher

As a freelance Writer/Researcher with Visually, you’ll be working directly with clients and a team of Designers, Animators, Developers and/or Project Managers.

As Writer/Researcher, you are responsible for effectively communicating a client’s or product’s message in a way that is uniquely fresh, memorable, credible, and persuasive. You are also responsible for conducting the relevant research required to tell their story well.

Within our platform, you’ll be working directly with clients - collaborating closely with them to realize their goals. To be successful, you’ll need to be a clear communicator, detail-oriented, and versatile. You’ll need to have excellent research and fact-checking skills. You’ll need to write in a variety of voices and tones that match brand personalities. And you’ll need to deliver your work on time.

  • The ability to write original copy from concept through to completion based on your original research and input from the client and the Visually creative team.
  • The ability to define problems, collect relevant information, and draw insightful conclusions.
  • Conceptual thinking: the ability to deliver a point-of-view about the work.

 

Scriptwriter

As a freelance Scriptwriter with Visually, you’ll be working directly with clients and a team of Designers, Animators, Developers and/or Project Managers.

As Scriptwriter, you are responsible for communicating a client’s or product’s message in a way that is uniquely fresh, memorable, and persuasive.

Within our platform, you’ll be working directly with clients - collaborating closely with them to realize their goals. To be successful, you’ll need to be a clear communicator, detail-oriented, and versatile. You’ll need to write in a variety of voices and tones that match brand personalities, and in a succinct, short-form style that complements moving visuals. And you’ll need to deliver your work on time.

  • Conceptual thinking: the ability to deliver a point-of-view about the work.

 

Proofreader

As a freelance Proofreader with Visually, you’ll be working directly with clients and a team of Designers, Animators, Developers and/or Project Managers.

As Proofreader, you are responsible for proofreading a client’s copy throughout the design or animation process. You are responsible for ensuring there are no copy errors - including spelling, grammar, and syntax - in the final deliverable. Your job begins before the project kicks off: you own the project’s first milestone. You are responsible for proofing every design deliverable throughout the project. Your job ends with a milestone just before the designer’s final upload.

Requirements/Skills:

  • Proven proofreading talent (you must pass our proofreading test).
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience. Bonus: relevant work experience in publishing, or an agency (creative or news) environment.
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional work experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, and a professional demeanor.

 

Developer

As a freelance Developer with Visually, you’ll be working directly with clients and a team of Writers/Researchers, Designers, Animators, and Project Managers.

As Developer, you are responsible for creating and documenting all project code, including HTML, CSS, javascript, and any necessary server-side software for our high-profile clients.

Within our platform, you’ll be working directly with clients and collaborating closely with them to realize their goals. To be successful, you’ll need develop unique applications from scratch and on existing platforms using modern web technology. You’ll leverage existing APIs and work with great libraries like D3.js. You’ll need to be a clear communicator, detail focused, and pixel perfect in everything you do, making sure you deliver bug-free code on time, and on budget.

  • stem for managing the lifecycle of a project.
  • Experience working with responsive design techniques.
  • Some projects require a proficiency with D3.js and SVG.
  • An ability to learn a client’s new and original APIs while working on a project.
  • Experience integrating social sharing buttons.
  • Experience using deep linking to provide access to application states.

 

Project Coordinator

As a freelance Project Coordinator with Visually, you’ll be working directly with clients and a team of Writers/Researchers, Designers, Animators and/or Developers.

As Project Coordinator, you are responsible for key high-level activities within the project. You help kick-start the project, keep it on track and within scope, manage the timeline and work closely with Visually’s help team to communicate status and escalate issues.

Requirements/Skills:

  • Coordinate and lead project kick-off call
  • Review the project brief against the project scope.
  • Answer client questions about Visually platform, and/or escalate if needed.
  • Ensure deliverable stays within scope at kickoff and after creative brief submission.
  • Communicate and follow-up with client/talent about missed deadline(s).
    • Escalate and flag issues to Help Team.
  • Milestone management: alerting Help Team about advancing and updating milestones to reflect accurate dates and progress. Keep pulse on responses from Help Team and ensure timeline issues are handled in timely manner.
    • Note: Admin access for Project Coordinators / Project Managers coming soon, allowing you to update project milestones and timelines directly.
  • Prompt client to close project and leave feedback.
  • Escalate to help team if client unresponsive or project still open three days post completion.

 

Project Manager

As a freelance Project Manager with Visually, you’ll be working directly with clients and a team of Writers/Researchers, Designers, Animators and/or Developers.

As Project Manager, you are responsible for quarterbacking the project, fostering collaboration, managing the creative team, assisting in client management, as well as monitoring scope and timelines.

Within our platform, you’ll be working directly with clients - collaborating closely with them to realize their goals. To be successful, you’ll need to be a clear communicator, detail-oriented, and ready to jump in when there are challenges, and of course help make sure that work is delivered on time.

Requirement/Skills:

  • Manage day-to-day operations in the project page, serving as liaison between our clients and creatives.
  • Ability to interpret specification documents, such as creative briefs, to help monitor and flag any impacting issues around scope and timelines; identify when projects are shifting out of scope and contact Visually Help for re-scoping and processing change orders
  • Client management, including leading in kick-off calls and providing the client with relevant information pertinent to the Visually Platform and the design process, as well as important updates relating to the project
  • Comfortable answering basic questions and providing clients with relevant resource materials and tips for success using the Visual.ly platform; and overall ensuring that clients are adequately taken care of and exceptionally happy with your assistance
  • Timeline management by ensuring all milestones are met and are reflective of the actual project stage and done so within the timeline in the Platform  
  • Review client feedback to ensure it is workable, timely, and it is included in the following design revision
  • Review freelancers at the end of each project, and report any immediate issues with suppliers to Visually Help
